European International Women’s Leadership Award 2022

This year, the awards will be handed over by the EP Vice-President MEP Nicola Beer.

Lucia Puttrich, Minister for Federal and European Affairs of the State of Hessen will give a welcome speech.

The following seven women have been chosen:

Chantal Hemerijckx (Belgium), Thao Kilbee (Vietnam, Belgium), Marie-Dolores Mabuila (DRC, Belgium), Monique Ouassa Kouaro (Benin), Rita Ricketts (New Zealand, UK), Jamila Sedqi (Morocco), Svetlana Spaic (Yugoslavia, Serbia, Paris).

The first ceremony took place in March 2019 in the European Parliament in Brussels. Since then – due to the COVID-19 restrictions – the ceremonies are hosted by the Brussels EU Representation of the German Land of Hessen. You will find here the link to last year’s ceremony.

Three years ago, we had the idea to create an award for extraordinary women: the European Women’s Leadership Award. We are focusing on women who at a certain moment of their life, have decided to follow their dream, to break with traditional obligations around them, to challenge male-dominated areas, to act in a respectful way in order to give an example to all those women, who do not (yet) dare to raise their voice and to develop their potential.

Please understand that – because of the COVID-19 restrictions – only the laureates and their personal guests will be able to participate physically (Representation of the State of Hessen to the EU, Rue Montoyer 21, 1000 Brussels).

Cette année, les prix seront remis par la Vice-Présidente du PE Nicola Beer. Lucia Puttrich, Ministre des Affaires fédérales et européennes du Land de Hesse, prononcera un discours de bienvenue.

Les sept femmes suivantes ont été choisies :

Chantal Hemerijckx (Belgique), Thao Kilbee (Vietnam, Belgique), Marie-Dolores Mabuila (RDC, Belgique), Monique Ouassa Kouaro (Bénin), Rita Ricketts (Nouvelle-Zélande, Royaume-Uni), Jamila Sedqi (Maroc), Svetlana Spaic (Yougoslavie, Serbie, Paris).

La première cérémonie a eu lieu en mars 2019 au Parlement européen à Bruxelles. Depuis lors – en raison des restrictions liées au COVID-19 – les cérémonies sont organisées par la Représentation du Land de Hesse auprès de l’UE à Bruxelles. Il y a trois ans, nous avons eu l’idée de créer un prix pour les femmes extraordinaires : le European Women’s Leadership Award. Nous nous concentrons sur les femmes qui à un certain moment de leur vie, ont décidé de suivre leur rêve, de rompre avec les obligations traditionnelles autour d’elles, de défier les domaines à prédominance masculine, d’agir de manière respectueuse afin de donner l’exemple à tous ces femmes qui n’osent pas (encore) faire entendre leur voix et développer leur potentiel.

Veuillez comprendre qu’en raison des restrictions COVID-19, seuls les lauréats et leurs invités personnels pourront participer physiquement (Représentation de l’État de Hesse auprès de l’UE, Rue Montoyer 21, 1000 Bruxelles).
